The Pioneer Log

Privacy Policy

The Pioneer Log, as a matter of general practice, has no interest in collecting any information about you.  (Unless, of course, you’d like to tell us something, in which case we’re happy to listen.) The only time we collect any of your personal information on this website is if you opt to type it in to the comment form that is available at the bottom of online articles.  However, we do not keep a database of that information.  The only place it is visible is on the article page itself, and we are usually willing to moderate comments if they contain personally-identifiable information you would like removed.

Having said that, we use Google heavily for both our online advertising, and also to provide us with aggregate statistics about the visitors to this site.  We have no idea what goes on inside Google, but we have recently been made aware that the source code we’re using for their services might be planting cookies (in other words, little pieces of text that can be used to track your Internet usage over time, but can also have far more innocuous uses) on your computer.  Most (if not all) modern web browsers have a way to disable and/or delete cookies from your computer.  We suggest figuring out how to do this, and then doing it, if the presence of cookies on your computer worries you in any way.  The option is usually found under “Preferences” on a Mac, or “Settings” on a Windows PC.
