Sunburn 2008 a success; 2009 uncertain

Co-headlined by Panther and The Cave Singers, this year’s Sunburn music festival drew crowds from both on- and off-campus. However, changes made by CBB concerning Sunburn and KLC’s once-separate budgets makes next year’s festival unpredictable.

Senior Art Exhibit 2008

Kesey’s Northwest classic ‘never gives a inch’ in world premiere

Four years ago, book reviewers at the Seattle Post-Intelligencer named Ken Kesey’s Sometimes a Great Notion the number one most essential Northwest novel.... Tonight, Portland Center Stage will stage the theatrical world premiere of Sometimes a Great Notion, adapted by playwright and director Aaron Posner.

Poetrypalooza: April ushers in National Poetry Month at LC, PDX

Edna St. Vincent Millay wrote in the poem “Spring” that the season reminded her not of the eternal renewal of life, but rather “the brains of men / Eaten by maggots,” “an empty cup” and “a flight of uncarpeted stairs.” The poem’s final image is both cute and sinister: “April / Comes like an idiot, babbling and strewing flowers.” Flowers are not all the month bears this year, however, as poets and poetry scholars of regional and national renown alight in Oregon just in time for the beginning of National Poetry Month.
